Recently I came across an IM site with some great advice on online sales, what caught my eye was his posts on UpSells.

James Dyson (www.businesjolt.com) talks about the need for upsells, he says:

“If you’re selling anything online, you should always be offering an upsell or upgrade option to your buyers. This simple strategy is something that many marketers overlook, and potentially miss out of hundreds or thousands of dollars every month in extra income without having to drive any more customers to their sites.”

He is right, to do this… he offers a series of suggestions and has some great tutorials on his site www.businesjolt.com well worth a visit.

  1. Mr. Dyson makes a great point, but in my opinion it's for the wrong reason. Commerce is all about your customer – it's not about how much money you make. The only reason to be in business is to bring value to the marketplace; making money is a byproduct, an indicator of how much value you've provided people. If you're not "upselling," you're not offering your prospect as much value as you can.
