Toll Booth OR RaceCourse

When I was a kid, my grandmother took me on a glass bottomed boat to see the mermaids.

Except the water was rocky and there were no mermaids.

But they took us on a tour of some very fancy houses in Key Biscayne.

There was Richard Nixon's Florida White House.

That was a famous movie star's house.

And he asked us, which house we wanted to own.

Everyone blurted out their favorite.

But he turned and pointed out a little house to the left.

It was tiny.

He said, It's the toll booth. Every every few seconds someone gives you money.

Hmmm.

Let's say there were 500 cars an hour average.

at 10 cents a car, that's 50 dollars an hour.

Or $1200 a day.

A measly $438,000 a year.

That was about 45 years ago.

It's just over 19 million dollars if you do the math.

What does a toll booth do?

Take money.

What does it sell? Nothing.
