FaceBookOk two things with FaceBook that annoys me, yes this is a rant of sorts but also a HUGE warning which you'll see why shortly. We all know and love FaceBook (ok not all of us or all parts of it) but it's a private company trying to build a business (Note to self: must write a post on what that business actually is v's what people think it is) by redefining what social means. Marketers know the power and try to subvert their systems all the time, FB is built around people, REAL people (they try to keep it that way) and FB make it very clear (see their terms – view here) that they want real people signing up who then use the business features to market and promote.

So here is my 1st issue…. Fake Profiles OR Somewhat worse the Business making out that they are a person, you know the ones, XYZ Business pretenting to be a person and adding you as a “friend”….. ok nice idea BUT bad because they don't work withing the rules of FB and risk loosing it all… EVERYTHING, FB doesn't care how much work you put  into it, they just come along and shut you down, your business profile and most likely every other interconnected profile you might have…. gone!

From FaceBook's Terms – Take note of 1st and 2nd points.

  9. You will not transfer your account (including any Page or application you administer) to anyone without first getting our written permission.
  10. If you select a username or similar identifier for your account or Page, we reserve the right to remove or reclaim it if we believe it is appropriate (such as when a trademark owner complains about a username that does not closely relate to a user's actual name).
