Seems we all have to experience it, the big bold statements, lavish claims and high moral grounds of self proclaimed experts… it's all just bluff and wind!
Yes we all know that you sometimes have to fake it to make it, but do we have to put up with “Fake it because I AM Faking it” experts. Where did integrity get lost in all the super self promotion that happens in Internet marketing?
I have experienced presenters detesting the audience just before they go out to present where they feign enthusiasm for the product they are presenting and they come off moaning about the dullards who attended but happily accept their cash.
Having seen the inside workings of many internet marketers and knowing the difference between the public and private persona's, it's often the unsuspecting GP (general public) who suffers the brunt of the lack of integrity. Stories of disappointment when expectation weren't met or the sale pitch didn't match the reality of the underlying offer. I have seen presenters arrive on stage having just cobbled a “package” together to release onto the unknowing audience… with lines like, “what can offer today that I can sell for 10k?” or “Let see what I can say to get as many as possible sold and we'll compare numbers at the end, dinner shouted by the loser!”
Who is the looser here.. well the “mug punter” in the audience certainly is firstly, then the presenter gets hit when they don't deliver on promises, however the big looser is the whole industry. With so many clone marketers doing the same thing the industry is getting a bad name as the tactics get spread further and further into the market. Even the best marketers with the highest integrity get caught in the fall out.
The whole IM space is lowered by those whose bluff and wind dominate the space. True experts will make it to the surface eventually. I wish we had a “Super Bullshit Meter” when being promoted too… It would be a really vauable product!
